Wendy with her beloved assistance dog, Oliver. Wendy – and thousands of others affected by blindness and vision loss – find hope in knowing that we are ending blindness.

Our Mission

Since its founding in 1971, the Foundation Fighting Blindness has been dedicated to funding innovative research to find preventions, treatments, and cures for inherited retinal degenerative diseases that lead to blindness and affect more than 10 million people in the United States.

The Foundation currently funds over 134 research studies and 71 prominent research institutions and eye hospitals worldwide, including 15 dedicated research centers. In order to achieve our mission, we fund pioneering research in a comprehensive program that approaches possible cures and treatments from every promising angle.

Thanks to supporters like you, the Foundation has already restored vision in some clinical trial participants… and we’re committed to having a total of 30 clinical trials underway by 2030. We can now feel absolutely confident telling parents of young children that we will have better treatments – and even a cure – in their child’s lifetime.

If you have any questions, please contact Carlene Cooke or John Corneille at (877) 254- 6308. Thank you for your support.
